For a while now the technical team at Smart Management has been working on a new concept that we’re calling TagHub Transactions or TagHub TX for short. Some of our users needed to collaborate on the same assets at the same time, with multiple clients using different devices, and this has provided us with some unique challenges. TagHub TX is our solution to these challenges.
With TagHub TX every update is a transaction. Each transaction must include the digital fingerprint of the previous transaction and a unique digital signature. Using these fingerprints and signatures we are able to make sure that each update is applied in the order they are executed. And most importantly we are able to coordinate updates to the same asset across multiple devices.
We have built a new version of our Tally application that makes use of this technology. We are now starting to pilot this feature with some of our inspection-tally users. Eventually we plan to enable it for all our Tally users, making it the default “backend” for the Tally application.
The TagHub TX technology allows us to create more robust and collaborative applications. It can also be useful on other areas of TagHub; advanced proxy solutions, improved offline capabilities, etc. These are just some of the areas we are exploring with this technology.
